The Man in the Red Coat by Julian Barnes

Julian Barnes researches the story behind the model for one of my favorite paintings, John Singer Sargeant’s, “Doctor Pozzi at Home”. The painting is owned by the Hammer museum in West LA. The book opens wide into Samuel Pozzi’s social circle in Belle Epoque Paris, including Proust. Proust used Pozzi and his friends as models for his characters.
