Our hearts and minds are filled this morning with the power of nature
The storm that surrounds this sanctuary and our homes in Los Angeles this morning
The devastation of the city of Lahaina earlier this week.
The numerous occasions in numerous locations
That are revealing the impact of our human behavior
On the climate of our earthly home
Our compassion reaches out to those who have lost their lives
Or the lives of persons they love
Or lost their homes
Or who are in danger this morning
Or who face growing challenges in the coming years and decades
Our prayer is that all be well
That the injured find healing
That the destruction be reversed
That those in danger find their way to safety
That we make better decisions and decisive action to limit the changes in climate we face
Our Covenant reminds us that “service is our prayer”
May each of us find a way to be of service
In response to the needs of the world
To be a comforter
To be a healer
To be a builder
To be a protector
To be a rescuer
To be a persuader
To be a leader
May it be our goal this day and every day
To serve all humanity in universal fellowship
With respect and responsibility for the interdependent web of all existence.
Of which we are a part.
