Love Poem

Love is not love, when love is only sweet.
Love must be bitter, too, and sour and salt.
The tastes of love are multiple.
The meal of love is full.

Love is not love, when love accepts
But has no ask, no bounds, no bite
That sings a lovely tune
But won’t be firm or fierce

Love is not love that forgives ever
But expects never, makes no demand
Is always gentle, shields, and protects
And leaves us loved but weak.

The gods that love us are not small nor thin!
Divine love terrifies, creates the galaxies
Pierces our illusions
And holds our souls accountable!

Love must be strong and sure
To endure from bang to whimper.
Love is infinite, everything and all!
Why should we, love so small?
