Stay You

Worship on Sunday
Zoom Webinar
Seemed to go well
Major learning – Need to increase number of participants!!!
If you missed the live worship you can watch a recording.
I will send a link with this week’s announcements (Thursday)
And I’ll see if we can get it posted on our church website.
Really enjoyed “coffee hour” afterward.

This is what church is going to look like for at least the next several weeks:
Worship – on Zoom webinar
Meetings, Programs, Discussion groups, etc. – Using Zoom Meetings
Go to church calendar, click on link
Two church “rooms” – so two meetings simultaneously
Some meetings, like staff meetings will be closed (password)
Most meetings will be open (anyone with the link)

If you want to host a meeting:
Check if space is available on the church calendar
Then go to the Zoom website and long in with the church’s account.
Schedule your meeting on Zoom
Copy the invitation and email it to Teresa (officeadmin@uuclb.org)
Teresa will add your meeting to the church calendar.
You can also email the Zoom invite directly to people in your group so you know they see it.

Then – IMPORTANT – Make sure you sign out of zoom so someone else can log in with the same email

We are experimenting today
When we get it figured out we will arrange trainings for hosts and attendees.

Connections survey – Hopefully this will happen this week.
Getting the tool set up online
Recruiting folks to make the calls

Please support the church financially, if you can.
Go to UUCLB.org and click on the “give” menu item

And if you have an Announcement or something for the Advance, Please send it in.

How different this experience is for different people

Are you alone
Or with family
With children
A roommate

Are you in a vulnerable population
Or caring for a vulnerable person

Are you working from home
Still going to work
Laid off
Retired

Have you got money in the bank
No savings

Paying rent
Paid off your mortgage

Dealing with a simultaneous economic crisis and health crisis

What’s the church’s place in these dual crises?

We cannot provide solutions
Economic – requires massive government solutions
Health  – requires public health officials and direct care of doctors and hospitals

We can make sure this doesn’t also become a spiritual crisis.

What we can offer is community
As we always do
Isolation – connection
Fear – consolation
Despair – hope
Narrow focus – larger focus

As I talked about on Sunday:
This is an episode we are moving through
Not the whole of history
We will get through this

This is not, even now, the whole of the world
There is still art, and music, and poetry
Nature Weather
The pleasure of a view out your window
Personal events:  birthdays
First steps
Moments of grace and delight
A good meal
A funny video online
A phone call
An uplifting message on facebook, or during worship

Don’t let this consume you
This is important and serious
But this is not everything
This is a part of life, for now
But not all of life.  And not for always.

Stay informed – as much as feels right to you
Stay on top of the news – but take a break when you feel the news getting on top of you.

Stay home

And stay you
