I often think that Thanksgiving is the most sacred holiday in the Unitarian Universalist year. A holiday that celebrates gratitude, through the ritual act of gathering around a shared meal, with a liturgy of saying, “thank you” is spirituality at its core. Spirituality begins with acknowledging our dependence on and inclusion in a “something greater than ourselves”. Whether human community, the Earth, a personal God, or something else, recognizing the gifts we receive from a source beyond our own selves is the foundation of every other spiritual virtue. I pray you enjoy your Thanksgiving.
