Irish Blessing

May the road, the path, the way, the trip
Be scenic, winding, refreshing, rising
To meet your step, your heart, your hopes
With a playful wind, at back, gently urging
And a sun of delight ahead, warm on your face
Drawing you forward, onward, toward
The blessings of the earth: the rain, the fields
The tall trees, the green hills, the clouds, the stars

Who knows the twisting, turning, time-running
Travel of life? but then…
All ways are one, and everywhere is also here
Eventually. How far away the going goes
The journey brings us only nearer, you
And I, and the divine hand, cupping
Whether stopping, staying, coming, holding
We reach, we return, we remain, we rest
