Ten days to consider the question

Am I the person I intend to be?

Where have I fallen short?

If we have hurt someone

            Now that the passion has passed

            It’s not too late to find the person we have hurt

            Share our regret

            Ask for forgiveness

            Heal our relationship

If we have made choices that led us down a wrong path

            Now that we see our error

            It’s not too late to make new choices

            To change our life

            To heal our soul

            To heal our world.

Every year

            Our hearts are broken

Our lives are torn

            Our communities are divided

            Our nation is challenged

            Our world is threatened

And every year, we are given an opportunity

            To repair what is broken

            To mend what is torn

            To bridge what is divided

            To defend what is challenged

            To strengthen what is threatened.

These are the High Holy Days

            For nothing is more holy than the work of new creation

These are the Days of Awe

            For nothing is more awesome than is our power to begin again.
