Add Your Flower to our ‘Dazzling Bouquet’

I had fun making a “flower” to decorate the border of the big church calendar in the Narthex.  See the article lower in this newsletter for more information about the flower-making workshop Aviva Heston organized after worship on September 24.  But the project isn’t over yet.  We want the border of our calendar to be a kind of “flower communion”, the Unitarian Universalist ritual where the individuals in the congregation are single flowers, the congregation is the beautiful bouquet we make when we’re all brought together.  Or in the words of the anthem by Bret Hesla printed at the top of the calendar: “Mine is the church where everybody’s welcome.  I know it’s true ’cause I got through the door.  We are a dazzling bouquet of every kind of flower.  Jump in the vase, ’cause we’ve got space for more.”

There’s still room for your unique flower on our bulletin board.  Make a flower at home, as simple or as fancy as you like.  Use glue, or tape, or sew.  Use paper, or fabric.  Decorate with buttons or stickers or marker pens.  We’re not looking for artists – but just for you! with the idea that our Narthex will represent the fun and creative personality of our congregation to our visitors.  Bring your creation to church when you’re done and Aviva will add it to the bulletin board.  Let’s watch our bouquet grow!
