Interim Committee on Shared Ministry

I am happy to let you know about a new leadership committee at the church who will be working closely with me to consult, advise, explore ideas, and keep me on track.  It’s called the Interim Committee on Shared Ministry.  The committee members working with me will be Bonnie Burroughs, Heather Jordan, and Will Rapp.  The Board and I worked together to nominate committee members that will be helpful to me and can represent the church membership as a whole.

It’s called the Interim Committee on Shared Ministry, because the focus is not just on me and my work (as an Interim Minister I report to the Board) but on the entire ministry of the church:  all that we do and all that we do together.  I contribute my piece but this is ourministry.

The committee will meet with me once a month.  I’ll prepare an agenda of the work I’m doing at the church, or work I’m thinking of starting.  The committee will help me prioritize and also give me feedback based on their knowledge of the congregation.  They will warn me to be careful because of some history I don’t know, or advise me of who I should speak with first.  They’ll also share their own observations of what’s going on at the church, who or what needs my attention, what’s going well or badly, and what people are saying, wanting, or needing.

I want to thank Barbara Allen, Christina Mathers, and Shannon Corder, who served in this capacity on a temporary basis for the first sixth months of my ministry.  They were extremely helpful to me, as I’m sure this new committee will be also.  Our first meeting will be later this month.
