An Active Church

One of the aspects of our church I most love (and I’m coming to love many aspects of our church) is that the church is so active throughout the week.  Our church is used by 12-step groups, by the North Hollywood Home Alliance, by renters, by neighbors simply hanging out in the shade of our “woods.”  Not just on Sunday, but any day I come to church, at any time, there are people about, enjoying the space, feeling the peace of our building and of the decades of good will and good spirits we have put into it.

Some of the programs are explicitly church programs.  Others involve church volunteers but are sponsored by an outside organization.  Some are simply renting our facility, or a room.  But I include them all in my thinking that part of a church’s mission should be to serve the community.  Either directly from us, or with us providing sponsorship, or space, or just a restful place to pause while walking your dog, our church is a vital part of the Studio City neighborhood.  I would love to see us further celebrate and build on this vision of what a church can be.
