Within a few days of starting at the church I realized that the space designated for the Minister’s office wasn’t suitable. The stairs caused accessibility issues for any minister or church member who couldn’t climb stairs. The one entrance created safety issues unless I was willing to jump out the window and scramble down the tile roof! The loft location kept the minister isolated from the rest of the church staff and activities impeding my work and creating further safety issues. The Board saw the problem, too, and we created a solution.
If you check out the church office this week, you’ll see some big changes. The Minister’s office is now downstairs. Upstairs we created a storage space for office supplies, RE supplies, music files, and a desk for John Bergquist. The Facility Manager and the Office Administrator will share the main office. When we hire a Religious Education Director they will have a desk in the Rainbow Room classroom.
I want to thank the Board for supporting our “Big Move”. Thanks to the staff for being supportive and flexible. And thanks to several volunteers who helped with the move: John, Shankar, Yajari, Barbara, and Christina.
