Grateful for…

I find it funny that Thanksgiving is a secular holiday but perhaps the most spiritual of all.  Spirituality begins with gratitude, with recognizing that we are not self-sufficient.  I hope that your Thanksgiving day, however you spend it, is filled with good things, and that your everyday, not only tomorrow, is filled with gratitude.

Grateful for the large
Grateful for the small
Grateful for the short
Grateful for the tall
Grateful for the narrow
Grateful for the wide
Grateful for the center
Grateful for the side
Grateful for the outside
Grateful for the in
Grateful for the silence
Grateful for the din
Grateful for the morning sun
The power, the heat, the light
Grateful when the day is done
A shower, to eat, the night
Grateful for the days we’ve weathered
The storm, the calm, the wind
Grateful for the furred and feathered
The scaled, the haired, the skinned
Grateful for this lovely earth
The land, the sea, the sky
And the blessings of our birth
For hand, for knee, for eye
Grateful for the many
Grateful for the few
Sometimes just for any
Always, love, for you
