In-Person Meetings and Worship

Earlier this week I attended a Zoom meeting with about a dozen UU ministers serving congregations in the greater Los Angeles area.  The ministers shared their various plans and experiences for returning to in-person meetings and worship.  Some sites have opened, most have not.  All are taking extraordinary care to keep their communities as safe as possible and as accessible as possible, while continuing to provide the core experience for our members that is the reason for church.  It’s difficult work.  And it’s unexplored territory for most of us.

UUFKC has a lot to learn from other congregations, but every community is unique.  Buildings differ, populations differ, access to technology and volunteers differs, the rate of infection in the local area differs.  Our Board and other leaders have been navigating our own way through this complicated issue.  I’m hoping to attend a meeting later this month to learn more about what has already been prepared and to chart where we might go from here.  We will keep you informed as plans come together.  And I’m always interested in hearing your thoughts.

My intention is to continue to provide the best community experience possible, whether in-person or on Zoom.  My intention, whether our Fellowship meets physically or virtually, is to be as accessible and welcoming as we can be to as many people as we can.  My intention is that our Fellowship be as safe as we can make it, supporting continued physical health and growing spiritual health.
