May these candles
Symbols of our dreams and desires
Illuminate our path
And guide us on our way
As we step into a new year

We gather our strength
We feel our love wedded to power
We feel the presence of our companions
Crowding us with their numbers
And lifting us up with their energy
We feel the wisdom of the ancestors behind us
And hear the plea of the future generations reaching back to us

With clear knowledge of the challenge we face
With faith more than reason
And hope more than certainty
We take our next step into the unknown
And feel the solid path rush up to meet our feet
